Djapo Cultural Arts Institute is seeking dedicated volunteers to join us for our Juneteenth Culture Fest!

Volunteer Assignments and Responsibilities
Greeters (General)
Role: Welcome and guide guests as they enter the festival.
Responsibilities:
- Offer warm greetings to attendees.
- Hand out event maps/schedules.
- Direct guests to different areas (children’s village, workshops, stage, etc.).
- Answer general questions.
- Keep entry points organized and accessible.
Interactive Cultural Station Monitors
Role: Facilitate engagement and understanding at hands-on cultural displays.
Responsibilities:
- Supervise stations (e.g., traditional crafts, storytelling, history exhibits).
- Provide instructions for participation.
- Answer questions about the cultural content.
- Keep the station area tidy and materials stocked.
Children's Village Area Attendants
Role: Ensure a safe, fun, and organized environment for children.
Responsibilities:
- Supervise games, crafts, and performances.
- Assist children with activities.
- Communicate with parents/guardians.
- Monitor safety and maintain a family-friendly atmosphere.
Dance/Drum Workshop Monitors
Role: Support artists and attendees during movement-based workshops.
Responsibilities:
- Greet participants and help with sign-ins (if needed).
- Manage workshop space (clear walkways, water station, etc.).
- Help artists with any logistical needs (equipment, time management).
- Encourage participant engagement and maintain energy.
Vendor Marketplace Coordinators
Role: Support the organization and flow of vendor booths.
Responsibilities:
- Help vendors locate and set up their assigned booths.
- Check in on vendors throughout the day.
- Address any vendor needs or issues.
- Keep marketplace aisles clear and accessible.
Educational Resource Area (Juneteenth Learning Lounge)
Role: Facilitate access to Juneteenth-focused educational materials and discussions.
Responsibilities:
- Greet and guide attendees through exhibits or info tables.
- Encourage interaction with displays, books, and videos.
- Answer questions or connect attendees with knowledgeable presenters.
- Monitor area for crowd flow and quiet space etiquette.
Artist Green Room Attendants
Role: Provide hospitality and coordination for performing artists.
Responsibilities:
- Maintain a calm, clean, and stocked green room.
- Check in performers and confirm their set times.
- Provide refreshments, dressing space, and schedule updates.
- Communicate any stage changes or delays to performers.
Djapo Merchandise Table Staff
Role: Manage sales and information at the official merchandise table.
Responsibilities:
- Set up, organize, and display items (shirts, prints, etc.).
- Handle cash/card transactions securely.
- Answer questions about Djapo's mission and upcoming events.
- Keep track of inventory throughout the day.
Stage Manager Assistants
Role: Support the stage manager with performance coordination.
Responsibilities:
- Assist with performer check-ins and transitions.
- Monitor time and help maintain the event schedule.
- Communicate with sound and tech crews.
- Ensure the stage area is safe and organized.
Set-Up Crew
Role: Prepare the event site before the festival opens.
Responsibilities:
- Set up tents, tables, chairs, signage, and equipment.
- Assist vendors and area leads with early setup needs.
- Check electrical, sound, and safety needs as assigned.
- Work under the direction of site leads and logistics team.
Clean-Up Crew
Role: Restore the site to pre-event condition after the festival.
Responsibilities:
- Break down tents, tables, and equipment.
- Remove trash and recycling from all areas.
- Assist with returning rental items and packing supplies.
- Report any lost items or damages.
