Community Arts Programs

LEVEL
All classes are for all levels of expertise.

AGE
All Classes offer differentiated instruction. All ages 5 and higher are welcome.
 * Children 5 - 12
* Teens / Adults 13 - 59
* Elders 60 and wiser


DANCE ATTIRE
Lappa (Sarong Skirt), Leggings, Tank/T-Shirt. All class instruction with barefoot or dance shoes.

DRUMMERS
Bring your Djembe or rent one of ours. (while supplies last)

Djapo Cultural Arts Institute will engage with the community in a 8-Week Spring Series of Cultural Arts Programming which will culminate with the 15th Annual African Drum & Dance Fest featuring lectures, panel discussions, film screenings, workshops and a Juneteenth Concert. Djapo Cultural Arts Institute will offer weekly classes of West African Dance, West African Drumming, guest artists, and other Diasporic art forms.
 

8 week session of community arts programming beginning the WEEK of FEBRUARY 26TH ending APRIL 20TH, 2024

 

Classes begin during Black History Month and end with the Juneteenth celebration.  Community Class Participants are invited to perform alongside Djapo Cultural Arts Institute at the highly anticipated Juneteenth Concert.

  • Full Session

    • Children Ages 6-12 $100

    • Teen/Adults 13 and Up $140

    • Elders $60

​

  • Walk-In Fees:

    • Children Ages 6-12 $15

    • Teen/Adults 13 and Up $20

    • Elders 60 and Wiser $10

    • 5-Class Card $85
